BMW's latest 5 Series is here and the first thing you will notice is that it looks really close to the current 7 Series. And not just the looks, like a younger brother, it even borrows a lot more, like the 7's platform and most of its features as well. Though that makes our job a little harder, it’s really good for people interested in buying the 5 Series. Launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 49.9 lakh across the country, the all-new 5 Series is available with three engine options across four variants. Before we get into the nitty-gritty of the features on offer, let's have a look at the prices and engines on offer.

Sport Line (Petrol - Rs 49.9 lakh / Diesel - Rs 49.9 lakh)
The base variant of the all-new 5 Series, the Sport Line, is the only variant to be offered with both the engine options and the only variant available with the petrol powertrain. This variant is suited for buyers looking for a petrol option or are making an entry into the segment. Here are the features on offer as standard with this trim

Luxury Line (Rs 53.60 lakh / +Rs 3.7 lakh
Only available with the 2-litre diesel, the Luxury Line is the mid variant of the series and the top-most offering if you don't want to go for the more powerful 3-litre diesel. Also, since the 3-litre M Sport is more driver focused, the Luxury Line is the ideal choice for buyers who are going to be driven around. It gets a few additional goodies as compared to the Sport line. Check them out.
M Sport (Rs 61.30 lakh / +Rs 7.7 lakh)
Available only with the 3-litre diesel, the 530d M Sport is the top-of-the-line variant of the all-new 5 Series. It packs a heavy punch and gets certain updates that make it stand out from the rest of the 5s. It is better suited for buyers looking to drive the cars themselves. Apart from the more powerful diesel mill, here is what you get for the extra cash.
Safety
In terms of safety, the features are standard across the range and include front and side airbags for the first row occupants and head airbags for the rear as well. The car also gets stability aids such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC).
This is the variant wise features distribution for the all-new 5 Series. In India, it continues its hometown rivalry with Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Audi A6. Also rivalling the 5 Series here are the Volvo S90 and the Jaguar XF. Stay tuned for the full review as we will be driving it soon. In the meanwhile, check out the following.
