After introducing two extremely impressive cars in 2015, Ford India today kickstarted the year on a high note with the launch of its much awaited SUV, the Endeavour. The Ford Endeavour has been priced starting at Rs 24.75 for the base 2.2L 4×2 MT Trend and Rs 29.46 lakh for the 3.2L 4×4 AT Titanium variant (all prices ex-showroom Mumbai). The Endeavour is the third product to be launched in the 2015-16 fiscal after the Figo Aspire and the Figo hatchback.
The butch design language of the new Ford Endeavour clubbed with hints of chrome on the front grille and at the back gives it the aura you’d expect from an American SUV. The front and rear fog lamps have been housed in the scuff plates to give it a clean look. In profile, the six spoke alloy wheels, the chrome door handles, and the large ORVMs dominate.
The Ford Endeavour has been launched with two oil-burning engine options – a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder and a 3.2-litre 5-pot unit. The lower spec 2.2 Endeavour makes 160PS of power and 385Nm of torque. The higher spec 3.2 Endeavour on the other hand makes 200 ponies and pumps out 470Nm of torque. Both these units come mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed auto. The 2.2-litre Endeavour with the manual transmission comes with a 4x4 option while in the 3.2-litre variant the 4x4 option comes with the autobox.
The Ford Endeavour also comes heavily loaded with features including Active Park Assist, Sync 2 Voice Command System, Hill Descent, Electronic Hill Descent, Electronic Stability Control and more. To make the off-roading task easier, the new Endeavour also comes with an electronic locking differential and a Terrain Management System.
In the Indian market, the Ford Endeavour will lock horns with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, and the recently launched Chevrolet Trailblazer.
