After unveiling a concept version of the Golf GTI at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, German automotive giant Volkswagen is now launching its production version of the iconic hatch at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
The 2013 Golf GTI is the seventh generation of the legendary compact sports car, which will be launched in two power variants, the standard 220PS GTI and the GTI Performance with 230PS which will avail larger brake discs and a front limited-slip differential.
The new GTI will be powered by a turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine (TSI) with 220PS and the GTI performance is equipped with the engine’s maximum power is boosted to 230PS. Both models develop a maximum torque of 350Nm. A six speed manual gearbox is standard in both models, with a dual-clutch automatic available as an option.
Both variants of the 2013 Golf GTI are 18 percent more fuel efficient in comparison with the previous generation of the car. Red-painted brake callipers, two chrome tailpipes and sports suspension bring out the sporty character of the car.
The exteriors of the car feature 17-inch ‘Brooklyn’ alloy wheels with 225/45 size tyres, special side sills, a rear diffuser and smoked LED rear lights, along with LED number plate illumination.
Sticking to the design lines of the Golf family, the new Golf GTI has a distinct front bumper design, unique LED headlights, a red strip running across the grille and into the headlights, side sills, rear diffuser and smoked LED rear lights.
