The RSV4 1100 Factory has been showcased at Auto Expo 2020

Think of fast Italian superbikes and the first two names to come to mind are Ducati and Aprilia. While the former has only just entered the V4 arena, the latter has been ruling it for quite some time now. And its flagship road-going model, the RSV4 1100 Factory, has finally been showcased in India at the Auto Expo 2020.

The beast is powered by a 1,078cc motor in a V4 configuration (well, duh!), and output is an eye-watering 217PS and 122Nm. Needless to say, Aprilia’s vast APRC electronics suite allows you to choose between 3 engine maps: Track, Sport and Race. Other electronic goodies include traction control, wheelie control, launch control, cruise control and a quickshifter.

Of course, all that performance needs to be managed by a competent suspension setup. Fortunately, Aprilia has given the 1100 top-spec fully-adjustable Ohlins hardware at both ends, as well as an Ohlins steering damper. The frame also offers huge amounts of adjustability, allowing you to modify headstock angle, engine height, and swingarm pivot points. This really is just a race bike with lights and mirrors slapped on.

And to bring all this firepower to a stop? Well, Aprilia doesn't muck around. The RSV4 1100 Factory has been endowed with top-spec Brembo Stylema calipers biting down on twin 330mm discs! Near as makes no difference, cornering ABS is part of the package as well. But wait, that's still not all! Because this RSV4 even features MotoGP-style winglets on its fairing, to create downforce and help reduce wheelies under acceleration.

Unfortunately, the RSV4 1100 is only Euro 4-compliant at the moment, so it doesn’t meet BS6 emission norms set to take effect on April 1. This means that there is no possibility of the bike being launched on our shores anytime soon, so for now, we’ll just have to admire it in awe.
