Update: Aprilia India Launches Storm 125, Its Most Affordable Scooter Yet
Piaggio had showcased the Aprilia Storm 125 at the 2018 Auto Expo and the new scooter was expected to be launched last year itself. For reasons unknown to us, the launch date kept getting pushed. However, if you were planning to buy the Storm 125, we have some good news.
Our sources have informed that the Aprilia Storm 125 will be launched in India next month. Bookings for the scooter are already underway across select Aprilia dealerships for Rs 1,000. The Aprilia Storm 125 will be priced at Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom), which makes it the most affordable Aprilia scooter on sale in India. In fact, the Storm 125 undercuts the Aprilia SR 125 by Rs 6,000.
The Storm 125 is based on the SR 125 and shares its styling and underpinnings with the latter. However, there is one big difference and that’s the fact that the Aprilia Storm 125 employs 12-inch wheels on both ends as opposed to 14-inch wheels seen on the SR 125 and the SR 150. Another distinction is the off-road rubber used on the Storm 125.
Powering the scooter is the same 125cc single-cylinder motor as seen on the SR 125 generating 9.6PS of power and 9.9Nm of torque. Braking hardware on the scooter consists of a disc brake at the front and a drum unit at the back, and the scooter will be equipped with CBS. Talking about competition, the Aprilia Storm 125 will rival the likes of the TVS Ntorq 125 and the Honda Grazia.
