With the festive season its sight; Audi India expanded its A3 portfolio. Audi launched the A3 40 TFSI Premium in India. The new A3 40 TFSI Premium has been priced at Rs 25.50 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The new Audi A3 40 TFSI Premium will be the cheapest four-wheeler offering from Audi in the Indian market and it will be an entry-level product. The Audi A3 40 Premium will be offered only in the petrol variant and it will replace the A3 Premium Plus trim that carried a sticker price of Rs 30.2 lakh.
“The Audi A3 Sedan packaged with youthful design, visionary technology and luxurious performance has set new benchmarks in the compact luxury car segment. As it completes one year in India, we are happy to introduce this new model that makes an exceptional car even better. We are confident that the new features will further enhance the appeal of this Compact, Sporty, Progressive and Sophisticated sedan amongst the Audi enthusiasts,” said Joe King, Head, Audi India.
The reduction in price on both the Audi A3 variants is significant and the effects can be easily seen. The new Audi A3 40 TFSI Premium loses out on features like fog lamps, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and front parking sensors. Other changes include conventional halogen headlamp instead of Xenon lamps, smaller 16-inch alloy wheels and no parking sensor display. The powerplant on the new Audi A3 40 TFSI Premium remains unchanged. Providing firepower is a 1.8-litre displacement TFSI motor producing 180PS of power and transmission duties are handled by S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox. By reducing the feature list, Audi has been successful in scaling down the price of the A3 by a massive margin. Such is the case that the new Audi A3 40 TFSI Premium is almost Rs 10 lakh cheaper than the base Mercedes-Benz CLA which is impressive. Mercedes-Benz will have to commence CKD operations of the CLA if it plans to take on the new Audi A3 in this pricing scuffle. As of now, the Audi A3 Premium gives the Ingolstadt based car manufacturer the upper hand.
