18,000 sq. ft. may probably seems like an outrageously high area in terms of real estate in a city like Mumbai, where every nook and cranny is already occupied. But when you’re Audi India, there’s no doubt that everything has to be larger than life. And that’s exactly what the newest addition to Audi’s wishlist of 18 showrooms by 2011 is – Audi Mumbai West is after all more than just a place to sell cars, it’s an experience! Located on the New Link Road in Andheri (W), the structure literally appears to be a huge two-floor billboard in the midst of an urban concrete jungle, and in doing so instantly engraves a sense of plush serenity even before you get close enough to take in the glass façade of the display area on the lower level.
A total of 12 cars can be on display at a time and the wonderful people at Audi made every visitor’s heart flutter with the bronze R8 leading the pack when they inaugurated the showroom on Wednesday this week. Come to think of it, it was a tough time deciding whether to keep admiring the svelte R8 or shift attention to the ravishing Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu who owns an Audi Q7 herself and was the guest-of-honour for the ceremony!
Speaking at the launch, Andre Konsbruck, Executive Director Region Overseas, Audi AG said, “We have undertaken an intense growth strategy to expand our dealer network and offer an energetic product line and world-class services to our customers and are confident that our performance this year will mark the beginning of a new era for Audi in India.” Michael Perschke, Head – Audi India said, “Based on Audi’s philosophy of ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’, this showroom offers a luxurious experience that truly reflects our brand values of sportiness, progressiveness and sophistication.” And all that, Audi Mumbai West truly is! The showroom’s design is based on the brand’s International theme for all its new dealerships across the globe dubbed the ‘Audi Terminal Concept’. The ideology behind the design concept not only makes these properties look lavish, luxurious and tempting, but also offers greater economical advantages by being cheaper to construct and ecological advantages by utilizing plays on natural lighting, for example.
