For the past few months, Audi has been launching cars in the higher-end of the price bracket. The A6, Q8, A8L and the upcoming RS7 are all premium cars with exorbitant prices. However, if you want an Audi without breaking the bank, we suggest you wait till September for the possible launch of the Q2, Audi’s entry-level SUV.
Bookings for the Q2 are unofficially open for a token amount of Rs 3 lakh and dealer sources have hinted at a price tag between Rs 30 and Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). A leaked document states it’ll be offered in five trim levels: Standard, Premium, Premium Plus 1, Premium Plus 2, and Technology. Here are the detailed variant-wise features:

It also looks funky, which is unusual for an Audi. The ever-familiar Audi grille, LED headlamps with snazzy DRLs, and large sporty air dams scream for attention. The silhouette is taut with blacked-out B- and C-pillars as well as large alloy wheels that give it a nice stance. At the rear, it comes with squared-out LED tail lamps and dual exhaust outlets. It’s sure to turn heads wherever you take it.
Hop inside the Q2 and the dashboard design is ever-so-familiar Audi. In fact, previous-gen Audi A3 and A4 owners will be at home in the Q2’s cabin. It’s a sporty design and we particularly like the turbine AC vents, flat-bottom steering, and the crisp Virtual Cockpit instrument display.
We all know that Audi will be taking the petrol-only route in the BS6 era so the Q2 will be offered with a petrol engine only. It could utilise the 190PS/320Nm 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine from the Tiguan Allspace. Power will be sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The introduction of the Audi Q2 could prove to be the right step for the Ingolstadt carmaker as it’s likely to generate volumes if priced right. That said, this version of the Q2 is soon due for a replacement as Audi is already working on a facelift in international markets. The Q2 will have a niche positioning in the country without any direct rivals. Its closest competitors will be the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1 and Volvo XC40.
