The Q8 is likely to be a more affordable alternative to the likes of the Lamborghini Urus and Maserati Levante
Audi is all set to bring its flagship SUV, the Q8, to India tomorrow after its global debut back in 2018. It has already been spied undisguised in India and bookings are open for a token amount of Rs 15 lakh with an estimated price tag of around Rs 1.4 crore. Here’s all you need to know about the Q8 ahead of its launch:
Design
At a glance, it may look like a German Urus. However, it gets Audi-specific design traits like the massive trapezoidal grille paired with Matrix LED headlamps. The side profile reveals an SUV-coupe like stance due to its sloping roofline. A massive set of dual-tone alloy wheels top-off a sporty side profile. At the rear, the Q8 features connected tail lamps, a raked tailgate, an aggressive splitter, and dual exhausts.
Features
Feature highlights in the Q8 include a twin touchscreen central console with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a four-zone climate control, wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. Other bits consist of various connected car features, Audi Virtual Cockpit as well as driver assists like a 360° camera, adaptive cruise control and lane change warning.
Powertrains
The India-spec Q8 will utilise a BS6-compliant 3.0-litre TFSI petrol engine that develops 340PS of power and 500Nm of torque, paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Unfortunately, we won’t be getting a TDI diesel variant as the carmaker plans to focus on petrol and electric vehicles for now.
Price
We expect the Q8 to be priced around Rs 1.4 crore (ex-showroom). It’s likely to come with plenty of customisable options, including 50 exterior paint options, different alloy wheel designs and interior upholsteries.
Rivals
Once launched, the Q8 will take on the likes of the Lamborghini Urus and the Maserati Levante.
