German carmaker Audi seems all set to aggressively update its portfolio in 2019. The luxury car manufacturer will introduce as many as five new cars. These will include vehicles not just from its 'A’ range of sedans, but also from its 'Q’ range of SUVs.
Audi might choose to kick off the launch offensive with its flagship SUV, the Q8. Think of it as a more flamboyant Q7 that takes on the likes of the BMW X6 and the Range Rover Sport. At launch, the Q8 is likely to feature a single 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that develops 286PS of power and 600Nm of torque. A petrol-powered Q8 doesn't seem likely at the moment.

The other Audi SUV launch will be from the diametric end of its range, in the form of the Q3. The latest generation of Audi's baby Q debuted earlier this year in July. It's based on an all-new platform and will come loaded with tech such as Audi's Virtual Cockpit and the new MMI infotainment system. Engine options for the India-spec Q3 are likely to include the 1.4 TSI and the 2.0 TDI, both borrowed from the Audi A4. The big difference this time around is the fact that quattro all-wheel-drive is no longer optional, but standard kit.

Audi's sedan range will see a thorough makeover as well, starting with the flagship A8 that hasn't seen any significant changes since 2015 in India. The new A8 is capable of Level 3 autonomy, and we expect Audi to go all out in speccing the India-bound model with all the self-driving goodies. For starters, the A8 is expected to share the 3.0 V6 TDI with the Q8. Audi could choose to introduce petrol engines or even hybrids at later stages. Internationally, Audi has the e-tron (petrol-electric hybrid) with a 446PS/700Nm engine as an option.

Next on the list is the all-new A6 sedan that was unveiled in February this year. Much like before, it looks like a shrunken down A8 and promises to offer just as much opulence, albeit in a slightly smaller package. The midsize luxury saloon market is heating up with all-new products like the BMW 5 Series, Volvo S90 and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB stirring up solid demand. It would be fair to say that Audi is missing out on the action, considering the A6 on sale currently isn't as well equipped as its rivals.

Finally, there's the updated Audi A4. Audi's bread and butter model got a minor nip and tuck earlier this year. We expect it to make its way to India by late 2019. Don't expect any major changes in the recipe, except for refreshed looks, though.

Also, we could see a surprise launch from Audi in the form of the e-tron all-electric SUV. The manufacturer has been vocal about its intentions of bringing the zero-emissions SUV to India. We wouldn't be surprised if Audi India chooses to launch the e-tron as a CBU well before its expected early 2020 launch date.
