Much to the chagrin of potential buyers, Bajaj has increased the asking prices of its Avenger models once again. It is surprising that Bajaj had to revise the prices now as its last price revision took place in December 2020. And the premiums aren’t nominal either. Both the Avenger 160 Street and Avenger 220 Cruise have received reasonably large price revisions. Here are the new prices:
Model |
New Price |
Old price |
Price difference |
Avenger 160 Street |
Rs 1,02,592 |
Rs 1,01,094 |
Rs 1,498 |
Avenger 220 Cruise |
Rs 1,24,634 |
Rs 1,22,630 |
Rs 2,004 |
That is a lot of money for a motorcycle series that has not seen a generational update in over 3-4 years. While we have had different engine options in the said time period, the styling and foundations haven’t really been spruced up. That's the same case as the Pulsar models, which too have received a price hike with no significant updates in years.
Still, what does favour the Avenger 160 Street is that the pricing of the Suzuki Intruder, the only other traditional cruiser in the sub-200cc space, is Rs 20,000 dearer. In fact, the Intruder is just Rs 2,000 more affordable than the Avenger 220 Cruise, and the latter is undoubtedly a far more powerful and capable highway mile muncher.
