Excitement is at an all-time high as the official launch of the Chetak nears closer and closer. Now, we can tell you exactly how long the wait will be because we have an official launch date for the Chetak. Bajaj will launch its eagerly awaited e-scooter in Mumbai on January 14, and we can’t wait!
We’ve spied it being tested, we were impressed by it at its official unveiling, and we’ve even seen a convoy of 20 scooters undertake a 3,000km journey across India too. Now, as dealerships gear up to start receiving the e-scooter, we’ll have a price tag for the Chetak. Bajaj will first start selling its e-scooter in Pune and Bengaluru to begin with, before gradually expanding to the rest of the nation. The brand claims that the retro, chic-looking e-scooter can cover 95km on a single charge in Eco mode and 85km in Sport mode.

The Chetak is quite a well-equipped scooter as well, featuring full-LED lighting, Bluetooth connectivity, keyless functionality, reverse assist, and a fully digital instrument cluster. Bajaj hasn’t revealed much in terms of specifications, but we know that the Chetak will be powered by a 4kW electric motor which will derive juice from an IP76-rated lithium-ion battery. There is no fast charging on offer, so a battery top-up will leave you waiting for around 4.5 hours.
As for the price itself, we expect Bajaj to position the Chetak close to the Ather 450 but slightly undercut it. This would mean a price tag in the range of Rs 1.1 lakh to Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Stay tuned to ZigWheels for more updates!
