Bajaj has finally unveiled the much-awaited all-electric Chetak in India. But you can’t just buy one yet and start posting images of this gorgeous e-scooter with #nostalgia as it will only go on sale by mid-November or early-December. However, if you are living in the western part of India, you might get a chance to see the modern avatar of the Chetak as Bajaj has flagged off the ‘Chetak Electric Yatra’ where 20 scooters will cover a distance of around 3,000km from Delhi to Pune.
What if these scooters run out of charge? Where will Bajaj charge these scooters? We don’t have the answers for these questions yet. But we are pretty sure that Bajaj has got these issues covered. Naturally, in a developing market like ours, range anxiety is one of the biggest concerns among prospective buyers of electric scooters. However, Bajaj claims that the electric Chetak can deliver a range of 95km in Eco mode and 85km in Sport mode, which is more than its main competitor, the Ather 450. Is the new-gen Chetak just any other electric scooter or is there more to it than meets the eye? Find out here.
The Pune-based manufacturer is yet to reveal the price of the all-electric Chetak. However, Bajaj has said that we could expect a very competitive price tag considering it’s the company’s first foray into the world of electric mobility. We expect it to retail at around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom), which is almost at par with the industry-favourite, the Ather 450.
