Looks like it's a month of recalls! And carmakers aside, bike manufacturers too appear to have joined the fray with Bajaj Auto recalling the Pulsar 220cc DTSi to repair faulty parts

Bajaj Auto has announced a recall of its flagship Pulsar 220cc DTS-i motorcycle to repair a faulty starter relay that could cause problems during starting.

The good news is that not all Pulsar 220 units are affected by the recall. The company is undertaking the exercise only for a select number of units that were likely fitted with the faulty part.

However, Bajaj has not released any details regarding the number of Pulsar 220 units affected and whether the problem has been noticed on other models of the company. The faulty part will be changed free of cost at Bajaj workshops and the repair job would take approximately 15-20 minutes.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSi is the bike of dreams for the Indian motorcycling masses, be it for the performance oriented or for those who want to have supremely brilliant handling in all types of riding conditions.

But before the introduction of the Pulsar, the Indian motorcycle market trend was towards fuel efficient, small capacity motorcycles (that formed the 80-125cc class). Bigger motorcycles with higher capacity virtually did not exist except for the Royal Enfield Bullet. Post the launch and success of Hero Honda CBZ in 1999, demand for performance bikes came into picture. Taking cue from there, Bajaj launched the Pulsar in 2001.
