Bajaj Auto has silently launched the Pulsar NS160 rear disc variant in the country. While an official word is yet to follow, showrooms across India have started receiving the new version of the NS. Apart from the rear disc, the bike remains unchanged. The Pulsar NS160 is powered by a 160.3cc, 4-valve, oil-cooled DTS-i engine producing 15.5PS of power at 8500rpm and 14.6Nm of torque at 6500rpm. It is mated to a chain-driven 5-speed gearbox. The engine is nestled inside a pressed steel rigid perimeter frame that is derived from the NS200 and imparts sharper handling dynamics when compared to conventional frames.

Telescopic forks and a nitrox monoshock manage suspension duties, while braking is handled by a 240mm front disc brake and an optional rear disc (new)/130mm rear drum brake.

Fuel tank capacity stands at 12 litres and the bike weighs in at 142kg (kerb). The 17-inch alloy wheels are shod with an 80/100 section tyre at the front and a 110/80 section rear tyre.

The Pulsar NS160 is the only oil-cooled motorcycle in the 160cc segment after the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, and comes in three colours: Saffire Blue, Passion Red and Glossy Pewter Grey. It competes against the Suzuki Gixxer - rear disc (Rs 82,606), Honda CB Hornet 160R CBS (Rs 91,099), TVS Apache RTR 160 4V - rear disc (Rs 84,535) and the Yamaha FZ-S Fi (Rs 87,042). All prices are Ex-showroom, Pune
