Bajaj Auto has reportedly suspended the production of its Pulsar Adventure Sport series consisting of the AS200 and AS150 models. The news has been confirmed after contacting Bajaj Auto officials who mentioned about the production being temporarily suspended. The company is progressively updating its entire line-up to comply with the soon to be mandatory BS-IV (Bharat Stage-IV) norms like the recently launched, updated Pulsar 220F.
Belonging to the adventure bike segment, the AS150 is powered by a 149.5cc, Twin-spark, 4-valve DTS-i engine that develops 17PS of power and 13Nm of torque. The AS200, on the other hand, is powered by a more powerful 199.5cc, Triple-spark, 4-valve DTS-i mill that registers 23.5PS of power and 18.3Nm of peak torque. The 2017 models will get a BS-IV compliant motor without any drop in performance. Moreover, it is possible that once re-introduced, the bikes will receive new colour shades and few cosmetic updates.
The Pulsar AS150 and AS200 are relatively new products from Bajaj Auto. Unfortunately, the sale of both models has not been great and were not up to the expectations of the manufacturer. In December, the company is expected to make a formal announcement regarding its future plans. The 200NS has also faced a similar conclusion wherein it was permanently discontinued after a temporary halt in production.
