We recently saw the BMW G 310 GS in flesh when the upcoming adventure bike was spotted testing in Europe. Now, MCN has got hold of few action pics of the entry-level adventure tourer bike from the German manufacturer. The bikes didn’t have any camouflage on them and looked production ready and we feel the new G 310 GS will be among the highlights of the 2016 EICMA motorcycle show scheduled in November. The bike maintains the traditional adventure tourer design of the BMW family and looks like a scaled down version of the BMW R1200GS. The underpinnings for the new bike is shared with the BMW G 310 R which should be beneficial for BMW to price the bike competitively.
The BMW G 310 GS gets a redesigned fuel tank which we suspect will have more capacity and a beaky mudguard to give it that adventure tourer stance. All the test bikes were sporting topboxes which will be an optional extra along with various accessories like charging sockets, LED indicators, warm handgrips etc. The exhaust muffler is also same but is more upswept for better clearance while the bike rides on Metzeler Tourance dual-purpose tyres. Like the G 310 R, the new motorcycle has also been designed and developed by BMW Motorrad while TVS Motors will manufacture it in Hosur.
Powering the bike will be the same 313cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor as seen on the street bike producing 35PS of power and 28Nm of peak torque. Power will be transmitted to the rear-wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. The BMW G 310 GS is expected to make its debut in the European market by first half of 2017 but Indian bikers might have to wait longer as the G 310 R hasn’t been launched yet. We can expect the new adventure bike to land on Indian shores by late 2017. Watch this space for more details.
