BMW’s M performance division has decided to mess with a two-wheeler for the first time, tweaking the already pretty potent S 1000 RR superbike to create the even more ludicrous M 1000 RR. Join us as we dive into this carbon-fibre clad beauty in these detailed images.
This being an ‘M’, it features the performance house’s signature red, navy blue and sky blue colours across its bodywork, on a base layer of white.
The boffins have managed to up the rev limiter and extract an additional 5PS in the process, pushing final output figures to 212PS and 113Nm.
Overall, the M 1000 RR is 5 kg lighter than the S 1000 RR, and a large part of those savings come from this titanium Akrapovic exhaust system.
To ensure that the additional firepower doesn’t send you into orbit, the M men have slapped on some gorgeous carbon-fibre winglets for added downforce. Apparently 16.3kg of it at 299kph.
On the chassis front, rake angle has been changed from 23.1 degrees on the S 1000 RR to 23.6 degrees on the M 1000 RR, and the swingarm is now half an inch longer, all in a bid to add stability.
Carbon fibre wheels reduce gyroscopic effect to make the M more agile, while braking hardware consists of twin 320mm rotors clamped on by M-branded 4-piston monoblock calipers.
The Standard variant costs Rs 42 lakh while the Competition version will set you back by an eye-watering Rs 45 lakh (both prices ex-showroom.) Part of that extra cash goes towards an M GPS laptrigger software and the corresponding activation code.
Also exclusive to the Competition are an M milled parts package, an M carbon package, a lighter swingarm and BMW's new DLC-coated, maintenance-free M-Endurance chain.
