The BMW S 1000 RR has proven itself as a phenomenal bike in production-spec motorcycle racing series. The RR has enjoyed much success around the legendary Isle of Man TT course, which led the French wing of BMW Motorrad to develop a special edition bike. Only 50 units of the S 1000 RR Isle Of Man Edition will be built, and sadly they will be for the French market only.
What makes the Isle of Man edition special is that it gets tonnes of BMW’s M-division tech and a special green paint. It is the same Isle of Man green shade that the M3 Competition arrives in. Special touches on the RR include yellow tinted LED lights, a dark smoke visor, carbon fibre tank covers, alcantara leather seats, copper painted M forged rims, and special ‘Isle Of Man Edition’ graphics.
The M division goodies are intended to make the S 1000 RR lighter than the stock bike. Hence, you get a lightweight Lithium-ion battery, M swingarm, M forged rims, and a specially designed M Akrapovic full-system titanium exhaust. No engine specs have been revealed but it is safe to say that the 999cc inline four potter mill will be making close to the 220PS mark.
While this special edition RR won’t see the light of day in our country, BMW Motorrad India did launch the hyper-exclusive M 1000 RR, the super-serious track scorching homologation special. And it is frightfully expensive. But such exclusivity should come at a great cost, shouldn’t it?
