BMW has released its sales figures for the month of January and things are off to a good start for the German manufacturer. The company has reportedly achieved 7.5 per cent increase in sales figures as compared to last year. BMW was able to maintain this growth rate even for January 2015 with 7.5 per cent growth compared to the same month of its previous year. Summing up the total sales figures of BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce, the German group was able to sell 152,879 units in January, 2016.
Commenting on the company’s growth in sales figures, Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, said, "We are pleased to see the sustainable levels of growth we achieved in 2015 continuing into this year. Despite many markets showing continuing volatility, we remain optimistic that this positive trend will continue through 2016, our company's centenary year."
The positive sales figure growth was a combined contribution from almost all models of the passenger car division. The SUV segment reported maximum contribution to the sales figures. The all-new X1 has reported an amazing 60.4 per cent increase in growth rate while the BMW X6 full fledged SUV was able to rack up 24.2 per cent growth rate. The flagship model 7 Series reported 26.3 per cent growth in the luxury sedan division.
MINI, the fully owned subsidiary of BMW, had achieved highest sales figure by selling 18,867 units globally and claiming a growth rate of 8.6 per cent. The motorcycle section BMW Motorrad also presented progressive growth in sales by achieving 19.6 per cent increase as it sold 7,488 units in January in correspondence to the previous year sales report.
