BMW recently upped the localisation game in Chennai where it now assembles a majority of its cars and crucial engines. THe first such locally assembled new product to hit the market is the BMW X3 xDrive 30d, the higher performance variant of the X3 and is priced at Rs 59.9 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
The X3 xDrive 30d is powered by the same 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder diesel engine that powers the X5. It develops 262PS of power and a colossal 560Nm of torque. This is good enough to get the X3 up to fairly quick speeds - 0-100kmph in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 232kmph. The X3 is mated to BMW’s super quick 8-speed auto box that sends power to all four wheels. You get the usual four driving modes we’ve not got used to in BMWs - Comfort, EcoPro, Sport and Sport+ as well as paddle shifters to take charge of gearshifts.
The 30d is being offered with a M Sport package that essentially makes the X3 look a lot sportier than the standard trim. Muscular front and rear bumpers with the aero kit and dark metallic paint for the diffuser and door sills, M logo on the sides and the BMW Individual gloss shadow line with trim strips, side frames, window recess finishers and exterior mirror base and frame in gloss black.
On the insides, the M Sport leather steering wheel and premium grade upholstery further enhance the recently facelifted interior.GPS, 25.9cm screen, front and rear view camera and a Harman Kardon surround sound system are features available with the new X3 30d.
