Considering the announcement was made on June 11, the new prices will likely apply to electric scooters bought from June 12. To come within the ambit of the new FAME II scheme, electric scooters will need to offer a minimum range of 80km and have a minimum top speed of 40kmph. Both Ather 450 Plus and Ather 450X meet these criteria, and are thus now more affordable by Rs 14,500 in all the listed cities.
That said, the Ather 450X is still priced at a premium compared to its upcoming rival, Simple Energy Mark 2, which promises to retail between Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 1.20 lakh. But now that the incentives have been revised, expect even more competitive pricing.
