KTM is all set to expand its Adventure platform in India with the baby 250 Adventure, the smallest ADV in the Austrian bikemaker’s lineup. It has now begun reaching dealerships across the country. A couple of weeks ago, we had received exclusive images of what seemed to be the launch event being recorded, given the trend of all launch events going virtual. We guess KTM will reveal more details by the end of the week.
The first signs of KTM developing the 250 Adventure surfaced just before EICMA 2019. The small-capacity ADV was spotted testing near our HQ, with our friends over at PowerDrift snapping a few images at that time. Even though it was a no show at EICMA 2019, details regarding the 250 Adventure went online on KTM’s Southeast Asian website.
As expected, the 250 Adventure is powered by the same 249cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that puts out 30PS and 24Nm, same as the 250 Duke. Just like the 390s, the engine tune as well as the final drive will remain the same. No ride-by-wire or traction control here, the only riding aid being offered is switchable ABS with off-road mode. Given that the 250 Duke has the most touring-friendly engine tune of all the single-cylinder Dukes in India, the 250 Adventure would be a great highway weapon.
Just like its Duke sibling, the 250 Adventure too gets the LED DRL with a halogen headlamp. An area where KTM has skimped on the 250 Adventure from the 390 Adventure is the TFT cluster. It isn’t a coloured unit and doesn’t get bluetooth connectivity, thus no scope of turn-by-turn navigation or music controls.
