Prices of both the naked and faired Gixxer have gone up by around Rs 2,000
  • This is the first price hike for the 150cc Gixxers.
  • Suzuki had launched the BS6 Gixxers back in March.
  • No changes have been reported.
  • A month after updating the prices of its scooters, Suzuki has increased the prices of its Gixxer series of motorcycles. The 150cc naked and faired motorcycles have got about the same price hike as the Access 125 and the Burgman Street 125. But sadly, the Gixxer has now become the most expensive 160cc naked motorcycle in its segment.

The price hike comes on the same day as the launch of the Honda X-Blade BS6, which has also become a lot pricey in its BS6 avatar. Still, you can save up to nearly Rs 4,000 if you opt for the twin disc X-Blade over the Gixxer. Needless to say, Hero has managed to ace the pricing of the Xtreme 160R, making it the most affordable bike in the class.

The Gixxer and the Gixxer SF are powered by the same 155cc SOHC air-cooled, fuel-injected motor. In its BS6 tune, the engine produces 13.6PS at 8000rpm and 13.8Nm at 6000rpm. While the Gixxer manages to produce roughly the same power as the X-Blade, the Honda, thanks to its extra cubes, is torquier by 0.9Nm. The Xtreme 160R is the most powerful of the trio, putting out 15.23PS and 14Nm.

The Gixxer was one of our favourite bikes in the segment and while its ride appeal has not diminished, it's taken a serious hit in the value-for-money department.
