A couple of months ago, Hero MotoCorp announced that it had received its ICAT certification for the Splendor iSmart. Interestingly, the revelation came right after Honda announced the arrival of its BS6 Activa 125. However, there was no advancement from Hero’s end since then. Cut to the present day, and we’ve managed to get our hands on the official RTO documents, which reveal the upcoming motorcycle’s specifications.
The official piece of paper suggests that Splendor iSmart will be powered by a slightly larger 113.2cc motor instead of a 109.15cc, which currently powers the BS4-compliant model. Unfortunately, the extra displacement doesn’t get you more power. In fact, the bike now produces 9.1PS — that's 0.4PS less than the current model.
The story doesn’t end there. The bike’s also grown in size compared to the current-gen model. The wheelbase has been increased by 25mm, which brings it to 1270mm. It’s also 33mm longer (2048mm) and 55mm higher (1110mm). The BS6-compliant Splendor iSmart will be available in two variants: drum and front-disc.
While there’s no concrete information on the bike's launch, we can expect Hero MotorCorp to release the bike by the end of this year considering the filed RTO documents. Expect the BS6-compliant Splendor iSmart to command a premium of around Rs 7,000 over the current models, which are priced at Rs 56,280 and Rs 57,430 for the drum and disc variants respectively.
