Honda has finally launched the Activa 6G in India. The scooter is available in two variants: Standard and Deluxe. While the base model is priced at Rs 63,912, the top-spec variant retails at Rs 65,412. At this price, the BS6-compliant Activa 6G is around Rs 7,500 more expensive than the older 5G variant. So, what do you get for the extra premium? Well, scroll down to find out:
Is powered by a new engine:
The 109.51cc motor, now fuel injected, makes 7.79PS and 8.79Nm, which is 0.17PS and 0.21Nm less than its predecessor. Honda hasn’t announced the efficiency figures, instead simply stating that the Activa 6G is now 10 per cent more efficient than before.

New underpinnings:
Under the skin, the 6G has received some noteworthy changes. For instance, it now comes with a telescopic front fork and 3-step preload-adjustable single shock absorber at the rear. Additionally, Honda has given it a 12-inch front wheel, which should improve the ride quality over the older model. However, the rear gets the same 10-inch wheel as before. Even the braking hardware is the same as before -- 130mm drum units on both ends, with CBS as standard.
Design and features:
While the design remains more or less similar to the previous model, the features list is 100 per cent new. The Activa 6G gets the same ACG starter as the BS6 Activa 125, which is quite impressive. We have tested the new Activa 125, and can report that the ACG starter works seamlessly in almost every condition. Moreover, it is now equipped with an engine kill switch. The only niggle here is that Honda chose to go with an archaic-looking full analogue display. There’s not even a tiny digital display there!

Dimensions:
At 171mm, the Activa 6G’s ground clearance is 18mm more than before. Additionally, the wheelbase is now 22mm longer, at 1260mm, which should increase the stability of the scooter in the real world. Usually, BS6-compliant two-wheelers gain a bit of weight compared to their BS4 counterparts, but not the new Activa 6G. In fact, it now weighs 107kg, which is 2kg lighter than before!
When and where can you buy it?
The new Activa 6G will start reaching dealerships by the end of this month or the first week of February, and deliveries will soon start after that. However, we believe select dealerships could have started accepting bookings.
