Honda has already sent out a teaser of the BS6-compliant Activa 6G, and the scooter is all set to be launched on January 15. While we already know it will get a BS6-compliant engine, here’s what else we could expect from the popular 110cc scooter:
Will cost more than its predecessor:
The BS6 Honda Activa 6G is likely to cost 10-15 per cent more than its predecessor. For reference, the BS4 Honda Activa 5G is priced at Rs 55,934 for the base variant and Rs 57,799 for the DLX variant (both, ex-showroom Delhi). When launched, it will be the second 110cc BS6-compliant scooter after the BS6-compliant TVS Jupiter Classic Edition.
Will make slightly less power than before:
We’ve got our hands on some of the specifications of the scooter, and as per the leaked documents, the upcoming scooter produces 7.79PS at 8000rpm from its 109.51cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected motor. In comparison, the current generation Activa 5G packs a slightly smaller 109.19cc single-cylinder, carburetted motor which churns out 7.96PS at 7500rpm.
The changes in displacement hint at a heavily reworked version of the existing motor in the Activa 5G. Also, the scooter’s peak power output is not only down by 0.17PS, but it also arrives 500rpm later. While the peak torque output is unknown at the moment, expect it to remain more or less the same as the current model. For reference, the Activa 5G produces 9Nm at 5500rpm.
Likely to get more tangible features:
the automobile community
The BS6-compliant Honda Activa 6G is expected to come with a whole load of features derived from the BS6 Activa 125. It could be equipped with a silent starter and the higher-end version of the Activa 6G could feature a semi-digital instrument cluster with real-time efficiency indicator, range, and perhaps a start-stop system too.
Interestingly, the leaked document reveals that the scooter is 72mm longer, which hints at the possibility of an external fuel filler. This is something prospective customers will really appreciate as it makes fuelling up a lot easier. We could also expect Honda to offer a slightly bigger underseat storage for better practicality too. As far as the design is concerned, the BS6 Activa might witness a slight facelift (perhaps a redesigned LED headlamp) without compromising on the familiarity factor.
Underpinnings might remain more or less the same:
According to the documents, the BS6 Honda Activa 6G gets a 22mm longer wheelbase, at 1260mm. It indicates that Honda might have tweaked the chassis for better dynamics. That said, it is likely to retain the same link-type front suspension. The rear too could retain the same single-shock absorber as before.
The document also reveals that the Activa 6G will be available only with steel wheels, so expect the upcoming scooter to retain the same 10-inch setup on both ends with tubeless tyres. Since they’ll be available only with steel wheels, the scooter will not get a front disc brake, even as an option. It is likely to get the same 130mm drum brakes on both ends with combined braking system (CBS) as standard.
