Honda is set to launch the BS6-compliant version of the Shine SP tomorrow. According to a leaked document, the new motorcycle will get an all-new 125cc motor. It is expected to sport a new look as well. The Shine SP will be the first BS6-compliant 125cc motorcycle to launch in India and the second Honda to conform with the new emission norms after the new Activa 125.

The leaked document suggests that the Honda Shine SP will get fuel injected motor and like the Activa 125’s all-new engine, it could get features like an ACG starter motor, idling start-stop and engine shut off when the side stand is down. Unlike the Activa 125 and other BS6 two-wheelers that make less power, the Shine SP makes more power than its BS4 iteration. It delivers 10.88PS when compared to the BS4 version’s 10.5PS.

The document also indicates that the BS6 Shine SP will be 13mm longer, 23mm wider and 18mm taller than before. Even the new 1285mm wheelbase is 19mm longer than than the BS4 version. These figures suggest that the new Shine SP could have an updated bodywork. We wouldn’t rule out the inclusion of an LED headlamp or an all-digital instrument console either.
The new Shine SP is expected to command a premium of Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 more than the current BS4 model. So expect the base variant to be priced around Rs 71,500, while the disc brake variant could retail at Rs 77,500 (ex-showroom Delhi). Stay tuned for more details about the Shine SP.
