Kawasaki has launched the BS6-compliant Ninja 650 in India at Rs 6,24,000 (ex-showroom). While that’s Rs 35,000 more than the BS4 model, you do get a lot more for the premium. For instance, the bike has been restyled for 2020 with a sharper fairing and new LED headlights inspired by the Kawasaki Ninja 400 as well as a new 4.3-inch colour TFT instrument console that can be synced to your smartphone using Kawasaki’s Rideology app.
Powering the bike is a BS6-compliant 650cc parallel-twin engine that now produces 68PS at 8000rpm and 65.7Nm of peak torque at 6700rpm (same as before). That said, Kawasaki says the motor has been tuned to offer better mid-range grunt compared to the BS4 model. It retains the same 6-speed transmission as before and despite the BS6 update, it weighs the same (196kg) as the outgoing model.
Apart from this, Kawasaki has tweaked the pillion seat to make it a bit more comfortable than before. The rider's seat height stands at 790mm, which is the same as the older-gen model, and at 15 litres, the fuel tank capacity is also the same as its predecessor.
While the bike’s underpinnings remain unchanged, it gets a new set of Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres. The 2020 Ninja 650 is available in two new liveries: Lime Green and Pearl White. Customers can book the new Ninja 650 at any Kawasaki authorized dealership or drop in a booking enquiry at Kawasaki's official website https://kawasaki-india.com.
