Update: Yamaha has launched the BS6 R15 V3.0 in India. Know more details here.
Yamaha India jumps on the BS6 bandwagon as it launches the BS6-compliant versions of the FZ-Fi and the FZS-Fi motorcycles. Prices start at Rs 99,200 for the FZ-Fi while the FZS-Fi now costs Rs 1,01,200 (ex-showroom Delhi) — an increment of Rs 2,520 and Rs 2,600 from the BS4 models.
RTO registration documents of the BS6 FZs had surfaced online earlier revealing a drop in power. That has now been confirmed as the new engine output from the 149cc single-cylinder fuel-injected motor stands at 12.4PS @ 7,250rpm. That is a drop of 0.8PS while making peak power a little lower in the rev band. However, Yamaha has bumped up the compression ratio of the motor to the 9.6:1. Peak torque is now rated at 13.6Nm @ 5,500rpm — an increase of 0.8Nm making this already torquey motor even friendlier in the city.
Aside from the revisions to the engine, there are no other mechanical changes to report. Aesthetically, the FZS-Fi gets two new colours: metallic red and Darknight. The matte finish Darknight commands a premium of Rs 1,500 over the other colours.

As Yamaha reveals from its new product line up, the BS VI compliant FZ motorcycles will be available across Yamaha showrooms from November, 2019. FZ is an iconic brand and many motorcyclists have been brought up well from its cradle. This popularity served more concern to the company while planning for its BS VI variant. Yamaha strived for optimum cost control and achieved to peg it around 2.5% higher, only to let FZ’s excitement stay unrestrained in India. The new BS VI models in 150 cc is also expected to yield Yamaha’s strong presence in the deluxe class 2W category.”
