The Skoda Kylaq is one of the latest SUVs in the Indian car market, with prices ranging from Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 14.4 lakh. It marked an impressive entry for the Czech automaker into the highly competitive sub-compact SUV segment, thanks to its impressive list of features. Alongside many essential amenities, in typical Skoda fashion, the Kylaq comes with a host of ‘Simply Clever’ features that make life a whole lot easier. Let’s see what those features are in this report:
The Smartclip ticket holder in the Kylaq allows the driver to securely place toll receipts, parking tickets or other small slips within easy view and reach. This helps avoid misplaced tickets and makes them accessible especially during checks or exits.
The utility recess on top of the dashboard provides a practical space to store small items such as keys, wallets, or coins or even place an idol.
The rear roof handles in Kylaq come equipped with integrated coat hooks, offering passengers a place to hang jackets, blazers or light bags without cluttering the seats. This feature is particularly handy for business commuters.
The Smart grip mat provides a non-slip surface in the bottle holders. Also, it has protrusions to ensure the bottle is in place, so you can open it with ease with one hand while you’re driving. A very useful feature in our opinion!
Next up, the features mentioned are not provided in the base-spec Classic variant.
The dedicated stowing space for the parcel tray in the Kylaq’s boot allows you to conveniently store the tray when it’s not in use. This is especially helpful when the boot needs to accommodate larger or say more luggage.
The Kylaq’s trunk includes two fixed hooks designed to hold shopping bags or smaller items securely. This prevents bags from tipping over during the drive, ensuring groceries or other goods stay intact. It can hold items weighing up to as much as 3 kg.
Reflective tape on all four doors of the Kylaq enhances safety during night time or low-light conditions. When doors are open, the reflective strips make the vehicle’s door more visible to approaching traffic, reducing the risk of accidents.
A dedicated smartphone pocket, located on the seatbacks of the front seats of Kylaq, provides rear passengers with a secure and accessible spot to store their devices. This feature would help prevent your devices from sliding or getting misplaced during the journey.
The glovebox in the Skoda Kylaq includes a designated holder for sunglasses, offering a safe place to keep them protected and scratch-free. This addition is particularly useful for drivers who frequently switch between sunglasses and regular eyewear. This is limited to the Signature+ and Prestige trim.
The Skoda Kylaq offers a 1-litre turbo petrol engine with output of 115 PS and 178 Nm. Transmission option includes a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic. Introductory prices for the Skoda sub-4m SUV range from Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 14.4 lakh (ex-showroom). It takes on its direct rivals like the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV3XO.
