Clive Sutton, one of the UK’s leading performance and luxury car dealerships, has entered the restomod business with its first-ever car, a Ford Mustang GT500CS. The custom-built Mustang is Sutton’s take on Singer’s Porsche 911 restomods. Check out one of Singer’s beautiful creations here.
Based on a 1967 Mustang, the GT500CS gets a reworked chassis and is rebodied to comply with modern safety standards. Sutton says it will offer the car in any paint option from Ford’s current palette.
Under the bonnet nestles a 5.4-litre V8 capable of producing close to 520PS of power. This engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 4-speed auto ‘box. Check out the Mustang GT500CS in action here:
The reworked interior gets new trim pieces finished in carbon fibre along with black leather seats. It also gets an 8 Ball-shaped gear knob. Now that’s something we’d like to see offered as standard on all modern cars! Other features include traction control, a touchscreen infotainment system with sat nav and Apple CarPlay, and a premium sound system.
The tuning company claims that the first GT500CS, showcased here, took ten months to complete. It costs the equivalent of Rs 2.3 crore before taxes. However, Sutton says that the price depends on the buyers’ specifications and that a fully built car could cost anywhere between Rs 1.7 crore to Rs 2.7 crore.
There are three levels of customisation for the Mustang restomod. The car pictured here is the entry-level offering. The second pack gets an uprated 7.0-litre V8 with fuel injection, upgraded brakes and different interior trim, while the most expensive one gets Inglese racing fuel injection, coilover suspension, a custom interior and upgraded race seats.
Would you fork out Rs 2 crore for a car that’s over half-a-century old or rather pick up a modern sports car like the Porsche 911? Let us know your thoughts on our social media pages.
