Citroen India has begun pre-launch bookings for the C5 Aircross for a token of Rs 50,000. There’s a maintenance package for 5 years or 50,000 km, absolutely free, on all bookings made till April 6. According to sources, prices will likely be revealed on April 7. That’s understandable, considering the early-bird offer ends just a day prior.
The C5 Aircross marks the return of Groupe PSA (now Stellantis) to India after their uneventful stint with Peugeot in the late 90s. In all probability, the C5 Aircross will be priced from Rs 28 lakh (ex-showroom) and offered in two variants: Feel and Shine. Initially, the SUVs will only roll out of the 10 La Maison showrooms spread across the country.
The C5 Aircross’s USP is its comfort. In fact, it’s one of the comfiest models in its segment, helped by the ‘Advanced Comfort Seats’ with memory foam and the ‘Progressive Hydraulic Cushion’ suspension. Rear-seat occupants also get the first-of-its-kind modular seats, allowing them to slide or recline. Read our first drive review of the C5 Aircross to know what we think.

Other features include an 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, cruise control, a 6-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control, powered driver’s seat, and five drive modes (Standard, Snow, All-terrain, Sand, and Traction Control Off). Safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, electronic stability control, and a blind-spot-monitoring system.
The C5 Aircross is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine developing 177PS and 400Nm of torque, figures more than those of the burly Jeep Compass. The motor is paired with an 8-speed automatic. (No, you don’t get manual transmission or a petrol engine in the C5 Aircross).
