Citroen recently took the wraps off its debut model for India, the C5 Aircross SUV, that’s slated to go on sale in March. Powering the SUV is a 2.0-litre diesel engine that delivers 177PS of grunt and 400Nm of twist, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Yes, it will only be offered in two variants, Feel and Shine, but the two variants are loaded with features. Here’s what each of them will offer:
Feel
The base variant of the C5 Aircross SUV has plenty of notable bits. On the outside it comes with a matte black upper grille, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, halogen headlamps with LED DRLs, front and rear fog lamps, LED tail lamps and an integrated spoiler. It offers features such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, 6 speakers, seats with memory foam, alloy pedals, and three independent rear seats with slide, recline and folding function.
Other feature highlights include grained leather/cloth upholstery, powered driver’s seat, 6-way adjustable front passenger seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated ORVMs, keyless entry with push button start-stop, and an air purifier. Safety kit consists of six airbags, blind spot monitoring, reverse camera, hill start assist, park assist, electric parking brake, tyre pressure monitoring system, and grip control system with five modes: Standard, Snow, All Terrain, Sand And Traction Control Off.
Overall, it is a fairly loaded variant with not much missing in features.
Shine
The top-spec Shine variant gets everything from the Feel variant and adds in LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, and a hands-free electric tailgate. So don’t expect a massive price jump compared to the variant below it.
Citroen could price the C5 Aircross from Rs 28 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. It will be offered in four body shades: Pearl White, Cumulus Grey, Tijuca Blue, and Perla Nera Black. The first three can also be availed in a dual-tone trim. It will rival the top-end variants of the Jeep Compass, and Volkswagen’s upcoming Tiguan facelift.
