Wheels And Waves-- France’s premier custom auto show has been cancelled this year amid looming fears of the Covid-19 pandemic. But that hasn’t deterred French custom house FCR Original from introducing the world to its two custom Honda Rebel 1100s-- the CMX Bobber and the CMX Sport.

As the name suggests, the CMX Bobber is styled after the barebones cruisers of yesteryear. Given that Honda already had the minimalist theme going on with this Rebel, it may not have been such a daunting task for FCR to pull this off. That said, this is not just a nip-and-tuck job.

FCR Original has lowered the front end by 25mm while retaining the rear suspension and the swingarm in the stock form. Furthermore, the stock handlebar is replaced by a buckhorn handlebar that adds to its bobber creds. FCR has even switched to black wire-spoke rims and chunky Bridgestone rubber for the authentic bobber look.

The Honda Rebel 1100 is loaded to the tee with electronics. Ride-by-wire, riding modes, traction control, heck, it even gets wheelie control! While the CMX Bobber may not do justice to these goodies, the CMX Sport certainly intends to.

Keeping the sinister red and black paint scheme aside, the CMX Sport means business. Twin shocks from Ohlins take up suspension duties. Then there’s the Honda CB500F-sourced 17-inch rear wheel that replaces the 16-inch stock unit shod with a Dunlop D212 tyre. FCR has opted for a slightly wider handlebar for better control.

FCR Original hasn’t fiddled with the engine on both the bikes and continues to run the Honda Africa Twin-sourced parallel twin engine that produces 87PS and 98Nm. The custom house has, however, replaced the stock exhaust with a stubby stainless steel unit.

One of the key aspects of these builds are the 3D-printed fuel tanks. FCR has used a blend of polyester and carbon fibre to build the sculpted tanks on these machines. The custom house has retained the bike’s stock elements like the LED headlight and instrument console.

FCR Original has pulled off quite a few interesting builds and even has accessories for Triumphs, BMWs, Harley-Davidson and Royal Enfield motorcycles. However, there is no word on the pricing of these custom Honda cruisers, and we reckon that the CMX Bobber and the CMX Sport are one-off builds.
