Cafe racers are a favourite among custom bike builders, purely because the genre has so much sex appeal. A purposeful, hunkered-down motorcycle with definite sporty intentions, often complete with a slender fairing. A prime example is the bike you see in these images -- dubbed ‘Reborn Cafe Racer’, created from a Yamaha XSR155 by Glanets Radical Kustom from Indonesia.
It’s impossible to go wrong with a combination of black and golden, but this bike has more going for it than just a snazzy colour scheme. The curvy front fairing with asymmetrically placed twin headlights screams endurance racer, and this bike proves you don’t need a steeply raked tail-section to create a tasty design. This tail runs almost flat but the minimalist design, complete with a quilted seat, produces an extremely stylish end result.
We would’ve liked slightly more intricate side fairings to go with the sculpted appearance of the rest of the bike, but the overall look is certainly aces in our book. Backed up by gorgeous golden wheels, a beefy upside-down fork and sporty clip-ons, there’s no mistaking this baby for anything other than a cafe racer.
While the XSR155 sadly isn’t on sale in India yet, it’s based on the R15/MT-15 platform so there is a possibility of Yamaha launching it here sometime in the future. If it does, this cafe racer will show custom bike builders in India the potential of Yamaha’s revered XSR heritage lineup.
