Datsun is readying the GO and GO+ with a CVT transmission for launch soon. Both the cars will make their debut by the second week of October. The new CVT will be paired up with the existing 1.2-litre petrol engine. Minor cosmetic changes are expected on the updated models.
The existing BS4 1.2-litre three-cylinder unit will soldier on and be mated to the new CVT. This engine makes 68PS and 104Nm of torque on both models. Currently, the engine is paired with a 5-speed manual providing an ARAI-claimed efficiency figure of 19.83kmpl. The new CVT variant will slot above the 5-speed manual variants in the GO and GO+ lineup.
Both the models are available across 5 variants -- D, A, A(O), T and T (O). Some notable kit includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, bluetooth connectivity, and 2 airbags along with ABS and EBD as standard equipment. Datsun had also recently updated both models with better safety kit
Do stay tuned for more details while we expect the CVT variants to be offered in select variants (preferably top-spec variants). Both the cars are also expected to carry a premium of over Rs 50,000. The Renault Kwid and Maruti Suzuki Alto are the primary rivals to the GO while the upcoming Triber and B-segment hatchbacks will rival the 7-seater GO+.
