Datsun GO with optional airbag launched

Datsun India introduced the airbag variant of the GO hatch back car. The Datsun GO airbag variant has been priced at Rs 4.38 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai. The airbag variant has been christened Datsun GO T(O) and has been priced at a Rs 16,000 premium over the non airbag model. Only driver side airbag has been introduced in the new car. 

The Datsun GO had received a lot of negative publicity when it scored zero rating in a crash test conducted a few months back. For this purpose the Japanese carmaker has decided to make its products safer and also have upgraded the sheet metal grade. According to Datsun, the new reinforced body should hold well in the instance of a crash than the previous model. 

Apart from the addition of airbags no changes have been done on the hatchback on the mechanical and physical front. Powering the Datsun GO is a 1.2-litre displacement three-cylinder motor churning out 68PS of peak power and it is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Datsun claims a mileage figure of 20.6kmpl for the GO hatchback.
