Datsun’s all-new offering in the entry-level hatchback segment, the redi-GO is all set be launched by the first half of June this year. Datsun dealerships throughout the country have started taking bookings for the redi-Go as well for a token amount of Rs. 5000. A batch of Datsun’s upcoming hatchback has also been spotted at a Datsun dealership in Goa.

Based on the same CMF-A (common family module architecture) as the Kwid, the redi-Go has slightly different dimensions from its French counterpart and features a tall-boy design. Along with the platform, it also shares its engine with the Kwid.

The shared engine is a 799cc three-cylinder petrol engine which puts out 54PS of power along with 72Nm of torque. Taking care of the transmission duties is a 5-speed manual gearbox. The redi-Go is lighter than the Kwid by almost 25kg and Datsun claims that it can reach the 100kmph mark from standstill in 15.98 seconds, which makes it faster than the Alto 800 and the Kwid.

The redi-Go will return an impressive fuel efficiency figure of 25.17 kmpl which makes it the most fuel efficient petrol car in India along with the Renault Kwid. We recently drove the redi-Go in Kolkata. Click here to read its detailed review.

When launched in our market, the Datsun redi-Go will compete against its French cousin- the Kwid, and India’s favorite hatchback, the Alto 800. To see how these three hatchbacks fare against each other, read our spec comparison here.
