Packed with oodles of power and performance, the Ducati Multistrada 1200 has made its mark as a strong example of engineering proficiency, with the level of sophistication and technology that Ducati has on offer. And as if this version of Mad Max wasn’t enough, Ducati seems to be developing an even more mental version for the Multistrada lineup: the Ducati Multistrada 1260, which is expected to make its way to showrooms in 2018.
According to reports, the Italian manufacturer has filed documents with the California Air Resources Board (CARB), hinting at the development of the Ducati Multistrada 1260.
What’s unique about the new Multi is that it will be powered by the proven 1262cc engine extracted from Ducati’ popular power cruiser, the XDiavel.
The motor on the XDiavel is said to be the epitome of Ducati’s Testastretta technology, generating 154PS of peak power and 126Nm of peak torque. Those who have ridden the XDiavel would very well be familiar with the ballistic performance that the motor has on tap.
However, as per reports, Ducati has been able to maximize the engine performance by increasing the size of its airbox, along with some other modifications. As a result, one can expect power to be in the range of 170PS.
That said, there is a possibility of Ducati revamping the Multistrada 1200 itself by offering a bigger engine, instead of launching a new variant on top of an already well-established one.
These speculations will hopefully be answered soon as we expect Ducati to unveil the new Ducati Multistrada 1260 at the upcoming EICMA in Milan.
