Ducati has created a new smartphone application called ‘Ducati Link App’. Developed with the help e-Novia, a Milan-based innovation company, the application communicates with your motorcycle’s on-board control unit and records information such as speed, lean angle, power delivery and acceleration. After the ride, riders can evaluate their performance by analysing the data captured during the ride. However, this kind of data exchange is only available on the Multistrada 1260 (standard on the 1260S, D|Air and Pikes Peak variants and option on the base 1260) for now. Expect Ducati to roll out the feature for other motorcycles in its range soon.
Speaking of the Multistrada 1260, Ducati recently launched its latest adventure tourer in the country at a starting price tag of Rs 15.99 lakh. Check out the top five facts abouts the Multistrada 1260 and 1260 S here. It also introduced a new paint option for the SuperSport, albeit only for international markets.
Back to the app, Ducati claims that it can record the travel route and enables integration of photos and comments as well. This feature is compatible with all Ducati motorcycles as it does not require it to be connected to the motorcycle. This makes sharing photos and details of your ride on social media easier and intuitive as it helps connect with friends and like-minded two-wheeler enthusiasts quickly. For added practicality, the app can also also store the motorcycle’s e-manual, display the nearest Ducati Store and provide service reminders as well. The app is available for both iOS and Android platforms, and one needs to register/login to MyDucati account to use the application. Users can also register on Ducati’s website and use the same login credentials for the app. Here’s Ducati’s official word on the app launch:
Press Release:
New Ducati Link App: bikes become social
Bologna, Italy, 20 June 2018 – It’s called the Ducati Link App, and it’s the new Smartphone application developed by the Bologna-based motorbike manufacturer in partnership with e-Novia, the “Enterprises Factory” from Milan that sets up and develops hi-tech companies.
Ducati Link was created with three fundamental pleasures of biking in mind. The relationship that each biker has with his machine: using Bluetooth technology, the application connects to the bike and, while riding, records information supplied by the on-board control unit such as speed, lean angle, power delivery and acceleration. Then, at the end of the ride, the rider can check aspects of his performance, analysing the evolution of the data over the course of the Journey. The journey and the discovery of new roads: using the smartphone’s GPS, the Ducati Link App records the route travelled and, by allowing you to integrate photos and comments, enables the rider to relive the highlights of his experience.
The pleasure of sharing: as part of a real community, you can use the app to share details of itineraries, images and suggestions for other bikers.
The Ducati Link App’s connection with the motorcycle lets you set the travel mode (a combination of load and Riding Mode) and customise the parameters of each Riding Mode (ABS, Ducati Traction Control, etc.) directly from your smartphone in an easy, intuitive process. Furthermore, the App makes available a host of information including when the next service is due, an e-version of the owner’s manual and the Ducati Store locator.
"The launch of the Ducati Link App is another step forward in the Company’s digital transformation process", comments Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati. "The application has been designed to be a tool enabling constant dialogue between bike and rider. Thanks to the connection between bike and smartphone, the rider will be able to enjoy an increasingly engaging driving experience, transforming each trip into a memory to be shared and re-lived at any moment. We are particularly happy to have been able to develop this technology with a partner like e-Novia, an impressive, dynamic Italian company, in further confirmation of the ingenuity and technical skills that characterise and distinguish our country."
"The collaboration between our 'Enterprises Factory' and Ducati, a renowned Italian brand, has led to the creation of a highly innovative and pioneering product in the field of smart mobility, able to improve the driving experience and to enhance the performance of a great Italian industrial product”, says Vincenzo Russi, CEO of e-Novia. “We are proud to have worked together with a company such as Ducati, contributing with our know-how in the fields of electronics and artificial intelligence to the digitalization process of a world's leading motorcycle manufacturer.”
The Ducati Link App is available for all motorcyclists: the recording and sharing of itineraries are not dependent on the connection to the bike. The functionality for exchanging data between motorcycle and smartphone, instead, can only be used by those who have the pleasure of riding a Multistrada 1260, in all its versions. Ducati Link will be continuously updated with new functionality being added and connectivity being extended to other Ducati models.
To explore the potential of the new app simply download it from the iOS or Android store and register with a new profile or, if you are already registered on the Ducati site, log in using your existing credentials.
