Ducati Monster 821 action

Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati which recently re-entered the Indian two-wheeler market will soon scrap the Ducati Monster 795 and Ducati Monster 796 motorcycles from its Indian portfolio. The Ducati Monster 795 and 796 will be replaced by the new Ducati Monster 821 that was launched in 2014. This move doesn’t really come as a surprise as the Ducati Monster 821 has replaced the Monster 795 and 796 in many international markets. The Ducati Monster 795 has been priced at Rs 6.95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) making it a fantastic value for money proposition. Ducati India is also offering zero per cent interest on the Ducati Monster 795 in a bid to clear the remaining stocks of less than 40 motorcycles. So if you always dreamed of owning a Ducati Monster, well, get your cheque book ready.

Talking about the Ducati Monster 821, the bike shares its powerplant with other offerings under the Ducati family that include the Hyperstrada and Hypermotard. Powering the new Monster is an 821cc, Testastretta, liquid-cooled motor churning out 113PS of power and torque rating of 90Nm. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheels via a six speed transmission. The engine is a fully-stressed member of the chassis and is mounted - in Panigale-style - on the iconic tubular steel trellis frame.

Ducati has been generous with features on the Monster 821 as it sports an eight-level traction control, ride-by-wire throttle with three riding modes that can be selected by user-friendly pushbuttons. In terms of design, the new bike is visually similar to the Monster 1200, the major difference being that it employs an all-new double-sided swing arm and a restyled tail tidy. Apart from similar styling the frame and chassis of the Monster 821 is similar to its elder sibling. The Ducati Monster 821 will be launched in Indian two-wheeler market in June and will be priced around Rs 9 lakh.
