Ducati has sent out a teaser hinting at the arrival of the highly anticipated Ducati Multistrada V4 on October 15. The teaser states, “4 is lighter than 2. It can also be more compact.” Even Ducati’s CEO Claudio Domenicali had earlier confirmed that the Multistrada V4 is inbound. Moreover, we’ve already seen test mules of the Multistrada V4 that seem to be almost ready for production, so it’s no wonder that the upcoming bike will be the ADV.
The tagline hints at the possibility of Ducati managing to shave off the weight of the Multistrada despite packing two extra cylinders. Going by the spy shots leaked earlier, the motorcycle packs a new trellis frame linked to a trellis subframe, and a new swingarm design to handle the extra power and torque from the engine. Nestling inside the frame is likely to be a derivation of the Ducati Panigale V4’s 1,103cc V4 motor tweaked to suit the character of the terrain-taming, globe-trotting ADV. But make no mistake, the V4 heart has the potential to make this bike the most powerful production ADV in the world. That said, the Italian brand is likely to keep the motorcycle in control with various electronic aids.
Of course, in typical Ducati fashion, the bike is also likely to be loaded with top-of-the-line underpinnings. The higher-end variants could get the trademark Ducati Skyhook semi-active suspension and high-end Brembo brakes.
Expect Ducati to launch the motorcycle at an equivalent of around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go up against the likes of the BMW R 1250 GS, Yamaha Super Tenere ES, Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin, and Kawasaki Versys 1000.
