Yamaha will equip the MT-15 with dual-channel ABS
When Yamaha India launched the MT-15 back in 2019, the price tag, combined with its features, didn’t make for a smart choice, particularly because it missed out on dual-channel ABS and aluminium swingarm. However, the Japanese brand is now looking to amend past mistakes and will provide the bike with dual-channel ABS.
The only downside to the new update is that the MT-15 will now start from Rs 1.43 lakh instead of the earlier base price of Rs 1.39 lakh. Thanks to the addition of dual-channel ABS, the MT-15 will be more feature-packed and safer than its previous iterations. Yamaha had already shod the bike with a rear radial tyre as part of its BS6 updates in February 2020.
Chances are, the updated bike will be launched as a new variant and not a new model altogether. Another point to note here is that this revision will further close the price gap between the MT-15 and the YZF R15.

Compared to its faired sibling, the YZF R15 V3, the only missing part on the naked Yammy is the aluminium swingarm. Hopefully, Yamaha adds that one as well in the future.
Apart from that, Yamaha will probably keep the bike as it is. No other mechanical or cosmetic change is expected on the MT-15. We expect Yamaha to announce the updated bike in the coming weeks.
