After the Audi Q5 was spied cold testing recently, we have now got the first sneak peek into the facelifted Audi A3 undergoing a similar test. Being a mid-cycle update, one can’t expect too many major changes in the new A4 except for the new front bumper, a wider grille, and restyled headlights that mimic the ones on the recently introduced A4.
Hardly any changes appear on the rear but since it is still early days in the testing life of the new Audi A3, one can expect to see a new rear bumper and a modified exhaust system in the production model.
Though we were not able to get a glimpse of the interiors in the spy pictures, the cockpit is expected to undergo minor updates including the usual trim and upholstery changes. The facelifted model could also sport a digital instrument cluster and an updated infotainment system.
Under the hood, the updated Audi A3 could get the carmaker’s next-generation turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder mill, speculated to be a replacement for both the current 1.8- and 2.0-litre units. Also, the 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine in the eye of the Volkswagen Group diesel emissions cheating storm could finally see the exit door.
The new Audi A3 could make a debut late in 2016 or early in 2017 while it is expected to go on sale as a 2018 model. And updated version of the other A3 family member in India -- the Cabriolet, could also make an appearance soon.
