The Ferrari 458 has been with us for a few years now and has been on the pinnacle of the supercar biosphere for most of that time now. The 458 Speciale, a faster, more track focused version of the 458 Italia made its debut last year and took performance to a new level altogether for the popular mid-engined supercar family. Ferrari though have been talking about a mid-life facelift for the 458 for some time now and now a testing mule has been spotted for the first time.
Although no real changes can be seen in the prototype at first glance, around the back, you do see a set of new dual exhaust system that might replace the usual triple mounted centre exhausts. Although no real data on the new powerplant has ever been released, there have been rumors of the new sub 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine making over 650PS of power in order to trump both the Lamborghini Huracan and the McLaren 650S.
The current Ferrari 458 Speciale makes upwards of 600PS of peak power and 540Nm of peak torque that is capable of propelling the mid-engined supercar from 0-100kmph in a blistering 3.0-seconds and 0-200kmph in only 9.1-seconds.
