FCA and PSA will share their platforms and powertrains for cost-effectiveness.
Future models could have a mix of both FCA and PSA DNA.
Back home, FCA has the Compass facelift, a Compass-based 7-seater SUV, a CKD Wrangler, and the Grand Cherokee in the pipeline.
Citroen will start its India innings with the C5 Aircross, followed up by a sub-4 metre SUV for India.
After announcing a 50:50 merger back in October 2019, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Groupe PSA have finally completed their merger to become Stellantis. Derived from the Latin word stello, meaning to brighten with stars, FCA and PSA will share their platforms and powertrains for cost-effectiveness.
With this merger, Stellantis is one of the biggest manufacturing powerhouses in the world with 15 brands under its umbrella. From FCA’s side, the brands include Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Jeep, Lancia, Ram and Maserati. On PSA’s side, it’ll be Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Opel and Vauxhall.
So what does this merger mean for the future of the two companies? Well, there’s a good chance that since FCA and PSA will share their architecture, we could see some Abarth DNA in future Groupe PSA cars or some nifty design bits from Groupe PSA making its way into FCA cars.

As for the merger’s effect back home, nothing has been announced for now. That being said, FCA India has planned four new Jeep models by 2022: the Compass facelift, a Compass-based 7-seater SUV, a locally assembled Wrangler, and the return of the Grand Cherokee moniker via a next-gen localised model. On the other hand, Groupe PSA is set to launch the Citroen brand in the country with the C5 Aircross SUV, followed up by a sub-4 metre SUV for India.
