When FIAT launched its LINEA back in 2007, it seemed like the Italians had done a thorough job of bringing one of the finest C Segment Sedans into the Indian car market. And mind you they were more than just close in achieving this objective, as the Fiat Linea since, its launch two years ago has won quite a few admirers with its acute styling, solid build and spacious interiors. The streamline sedan seemed to handle well on highways and was supported by good suspension ensuring a smooth ride over uneven roads. Even the pricing seemed competitive with the base petrol variant retailing at Rs 5,98, 967 lakhs and the base diesel version selling for Rs 6,88, 983 lakhs.
So where did the Linea falter??? Well to answer that question all we needed to do was to lift its hood, where the Linea’s 1.3L Multijet just yearned for more power. Well the good news is that the underpowered 2007 model, has had a major heart transplant in the form of the new 2010 Linea T – Jet.
Officially launched on the 8th of October 2010, the Fiat Linea T – Jet now comes with a new imported power train that delivers 114 PS power and an unbelievable torque of 207 Nm, enough to give the T – Jet a two lap lead over its C Segment competitors in any leveled racing circuit.
So what else is new with the T- Jet??
The Fiat Linea T- Jet comes with 13 new features and 7 class leading equipment, which is sure to please potential buyers. With all four wheels of the new T-Jet marshaling disc breaks and safety features like Dual Airbags, ABS and EBD included, the turbo charged premium sedan is expected to set new benchmarks in areas of performance, safety, comfort, ride, handling and in-car infotainment.
Speaking on the launch of the all new Linea, Rajeev Kapoor, President and CEO, Fiat Indian Automobiles Ltd said, “We are pronouncing the Linea T-Jet as a refined luxurious sedan. It literally sets a benchmark in the C plus segment with its robust engine and its never ending list of features.”
Ride and handling of the new generation T-Jet will also see significant improvement with its bigger 16 inch alloy wheels with wider 205/55 R 16 tyres and longest wheel base of 2603 mm and enhanced ground clearance of 170mm.
Powerful Sedan Preliminary Pricing
The good news extends to the pricing of the new car being available in two variants at a special introductory period price.
Ex-Showroom Delhi:
T Jet Rs 8.55 lakhs
T Jet Plus Rs 8.99 lakhs
Ex-Showroom Mumbai:
T Jet Rs 8.84 lakhs
T Jet Plus Rs 9.29 lakhs
Fiat India will initially focus on two of the most important markets, Mumbai / Pune and Delhi/NCR, which constitute 60% sales volume in the C plus segment.
