Two new Chinese carmakers are set to make their debut at Auto Expo 2020

The next chapter of the biennial Auto Expo is all set to unfold at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida from February 7 to 12. As usual, the event will witness a host of car launches and unveils. However, the overall theme of the 15th edition will be electric vehicles and the switch from BS4 to BS6 emission regulations. A fair number of carmakers are set to give the Auto Expo this time thanks to the economic slowdown. Visitors needn’t fret though as two Chinese carmakers are set to make their expo debut next year.

MG Motor India

MG was a relatively unknown caramker in India a while back. But that’s not the case today thanks to the Hector. MG managed to establish the brand in India with the mid-size connected SUV. The British carmaker is expected to make its presence felt at the 15th expo with a range of exhibits. Furthermore, we also expect MG to showcase the 6-seater version of the Hector. The Maxus D90 might also be present at MG’s stall considering it was spied testing on our roads earlier this year.

Great Wall Motors

Great Wall Motors is China’s largest SUV manufacturer and the carmaker is eyeing a share of the Indian automotive market. It is set to bring the Haval SUV brand to India soon and is also contemplating on setting up a manufacturing facility in Gujarat, India. Haval’s flag bearer for India might be the Hector-rivalling H6. The Creta-rival H2 and the full-size H9 are also on the cards for India. We expect Haval to debut at the Auto Expo by showcasing all three SUVs. GWM has also hinted that it might develop electric vehicles in India as well.

Haima is actually is a short name for "Hainan Mazda". Yes, Haima was founded as a joint venture between Mazda and the Hainan provincial government in 1992 to sell Mazda cars in China. According to a report, the Chinese carmaker has confirmed its entry into India and is currently studying the market. It is also reported to have joined hands with Bird Electric, meaning we could expect electric cars from Haima at the upcoming Auto Show. Haima produces all kinds of cars from hatchbacks to SUVs. It is too early to comment on its plan for India but expect some major announcements at the Expo.
