Ford has finally brought to Indian shores the most iconic car in their product portfolio – the Mustang. The American carmaker first showcased it prior to the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi when it announced plans of launching the model in India. This sixth-generation iteration is the first time the carmaker has made a right-hand drive version of the Mustang. At a special event at the Buddh International Circuit, Ford India introduced the Mustang in India at Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The Mustang has only been launched in the top-end fastback GT trim, identical to the one displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo. To the delight of enthusiasts, it comes only with the 5.0-litre, V8 unit that pumps a superb 401PS and makes 515Nm of torque. All of this power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. The India-spec RHD model comes with all the additional features like limited-slip sport differential, four driving modes, and more.
The beauty of the Mustang is in its design. Although the car has been in production for nearly five decades, it not only retains its DNA but also looks new-age in this sixth-generation avatar. The long hood, swooping roofline and the short tail section make it look stunning, especially in this red shade. In terms of features, the Ford Mustang GT comes with all the latest gizmos like the track apps that records and displays performance matrix on the 4.2-inch display screen. The Mustang GT also comes equipped with leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, bucket seats, patented SYNC 2 technology and MyFord 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with HD Radio are some of the other features the Mustang GT comes fitted with.
